What it does
Laptop Cam turns your computer's webcam into a phone-style camera. You can snap photos, record videos, and scan QR codes without installing anything.
Take a photo
- Make sure the camera is switched to Photo mode.
- Tap the round shutter button at the bottom.
- The photo downloads automatically to your Downloads folder.
Record a video
- Tap Video on the mode switch above the shutter.
- Press the red record button to start filming.
- Press the same button again to stop. The video downloads automatically.
Scan a QR code
- Point the QR code at your webcam so it fits inside the viewfinder.
- Hold it steady for a moment while the app scans.
- A yellow box appears around the code with a label that says what will happen when you tap it.
- Tap the yellow box to open a link, send an email, start a call, or copy plain text.
The app recognizes most common QR types, including website links, email addresses, phone numbers, and Wi-Fi credentials.
Tips for best results
- Use good lighting so the code is clearly visible.
- Hold the code roughly a hand's width from the camera.
- Avoid glare or reflections on glossy screens or paper.
